Quercus michauxii
Description
Swamp Chestnut Oak is a large oak with a dense, broad crown, and a good tolerance for wet soils and occasional flooding. Leaves are broad and oblong with large rounded teeth, resembling a chestnut leaf. Its native range spans from NJ and PA south to FL, west to TX, and inland through the Mississippi and Ohio River valleys up to IL and IN.
“This is a stately tree deserving of greater consideration in contemporary landscapes.”
